The MBBS program at the University of Belize School of Medicine UBSoM is comprehensive, rigorous and designed to produce highly skilled and compassionate physicians. The program emphasizes multidisciplinary collaboration, advanced technological integration, and research-oriented learning to address the healthcare needs of Belize and beyond. It includes a blend of theoretical knowledge and extensive clinical training, with coursework spanning anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, and more. Students are prepared for diverse medical careers through hands-on experience in simulated hospitals and real clinical settings, ensuring they are well-equipped to meet national, regional, and international healthcare standards.
Applicant must have earned a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 grading system in one of the following:
Pre-Medical Sciences students are expected to have a solid grasp of fundamental concepts in biology, chemistry, math and physics. A minimum cGPA in the Premedical Sciences program is required for entry into the UBSoM.
Biology majors are expected to grasp fundamental concepts like cell structure, genetics, and evolution, and understand organismal biology and ecological principles.
Chemistry majors should understand core concepts such as chemical reactions, molecular structure, and the principles of organic, inorganic, and physical chemistry.
Two passes in GCE A Level with at least a B, or CAPE, with at least a Grade II with one pass in GCE A Level with at least a C or CAPE with at least a Grade III (Biology, Chemistry, Math, Physics – the fourth subject should be a pass at GCE O Level or CXC General Proficiency) or their international equivalents.
The following criteria will each receive a score. The highest scoring applicants will be accepted.
